Award: Emergency medicine chief recognized as “local hero” for leadership in pandemic response

Dr. Christie MacDonald, Interim Chair and City-Wide Chief, Emergency Medicine, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care, is being celebrated by the Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians (CAEP) for her exceptional leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. MacDonald joins the list of “Local Heroes During Covid-19,” announced by the CAEP’s Women in Emergency Medicine committee. The initiative recognizes female emergency physicians across Canada that have had a significant impact in shaping their communities’ responses to COVID-19 during the first few months of the pandemic.

In her nomination, Dr. MacDonald was praised for her tireless commitment, effective communication, and ensuring the preparedness, safety and well-being of her staff.
