Announcement: Dr. Christopher Watling appointed Director, Centre for Education Research & Innovation

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Christopher Watling has been appointed Director, Centre for Education Research & Innovation (CERI) at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University for a five-year term effective January 1, 2020.

Dr. Watling is currently the Associate Dean, Postgraduate Medical Education, a role he has held since 2010. He will continue in that role until December 31, 2019, during which time he will support all aspects of PGME and work with the teams across the School to complete the accreditation process.

Dr. Watling obtained his MD (cum laude) from Dalhousie University in Halifax in 1990, then completed residency training in neurology at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry, Western University in 1995 followed by fellowship training at the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Dr. Watling also completed a Master of Medical Education degree from the University of Dundee in 2009 and a PhD in Health Professions Education from Maastricht University in 2014. He joined Schulich Medicine & Dentistry in 2000, and is currently a Professor in the Departments of Clinical Neurological Sciences and Oncology and a Scientist at CERI.

Dr. Watling has a thriving research program exploring culture, coaching, observation and feedback in clinical workplace training environments. He is a sought after collaborator, mentor, and speaker, and an internationally-recognized leader in the field of medical education.
