Chidiac was awarded the Senior Investigator Award. This award is designed to stimulate and recognize research in the field of basic or clinical pharmacology. It is awarded annually for significant contributions to the advancement and extension of knowledge in the field.

His work focuses on how the activities of G proteins, receptors, effectors, and RGS proteins are regulated, and how these signaling proteins interact with one another to cause disease.

Stathopulos received the Piafsky Young Investigator Award for significant contributions to the advancement and extension of knowledge in the field of basic and clinical pharmacology.

His laboratory aims to apply structural biology approaches to understand molecular mechanisms driving calcium signaling processes which are implicated in heart disease, cancer and immunodeficiency.

The awards were handed out at the Canadian Society of Pharmacology and Therapeutics annual conference June 12 to 14 in Calgary.
