Announcement: Dr. Tisha Joy appointed Associate Dean, Admissions

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Tisha Joy has been appointed as the Associate Dean, Admissions, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, effective from September 1, 2017 to August 31, 2022.

Dr. Joy earned a BSc in Microbiology from the University of Toronto in 1997, and a Doctor of Medicine degree at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry, Western University in 2001. She completed her Royal College Certification for Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, and then went on to complete a research fellowship, focusing on HIV related lipodystrophy at Massachusetts General Hospital part of Harvard Medical Schoolin her first year, and cholesterol disorders at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry’s Robarts Research Institute in the second year. Dr. Joy started working at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry in 2008 and currently holds an appointment as Associate Professor in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Schulich Medicine & Dentistryand as Associate Scientist at Lawson Health Research Institute.

Dr. Joy’s research interests include cholesterol disorders, statin-related myopathy, Type 2 diabetes, fat distribution, and nutrition. She has published several articles in these fields.

Dr. Joy is involved in several committees and has served as Co-Chair for the Undergraduate Endocrine course for second year medical students since 2013; Co-Chair for the resident research committee for endocrinology since 2015; and Chair of the Competency Committee for the Internal Medicine Residency Program since 2017.

Dr. Joy was the recipient of the Award of Excellence in Undergraduate Medical Education from Schulich Medicine & Dentistry in2008-2010, and the Merrill Edmonds Award of Excellence in Teaching in 2014.
