Incoming medical student Erik Mandawe named LAC's Artist in Residence

Congratulations to incoming Schulich Medicine student, Erik Mandawe (ᐱᔦᓯᐊᐧᐠ), who has just been named as the London Arts Council’s inaugural Artist in Residence.

Supported by the Community Arts Investment Program, the Artist in Residence Program aims to create opportunities for collaborations and a deeper understanding of Indigenous culture. The Artist in Residence acts as an ambassador for the arts in London, promoting awareness of and appreciation for the arts in the everyday consciousness of Londoners as well as creating collaborative opportunities for Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists of all disciplines.

Mandawe is a graduate of Western’s Don Wright Faculty of Music and is a Liaison/Admissions Coordinator in Indigenous Services at Western. The London Arts Council describes his artistic practice as being informed by his passion for communication, worldview, travel, and land-based teachings.
