Dr. Michael Motolko, MD has been appointed as Acting Chair, Department of Ophthalmology

Dr. Michael Motolko, MD has been appointed as Acting Chair, Department of Ophthalmology in the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University effective September 1, 2015 – September 30, 2016.

Dr. Motolko is currently a Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University. He is also an Ophthalmologist at St. Joseph’s Health Care in London Ontario.

In 1976, Dr. Motolko graduated Magna cum Laude with his medical degree from University of Ottawa. After completing his internship at St. Michael’s Hospital, he did his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Toronto. He completed two years of glaucoma fellowship training; the first year at the University of British Columbia, and the second year at the University of Iowa.

Dr. Motolko’s clinical focus is on Adult Glaucoma and related diseases and cataracts. He has received more than 20 surgical and clinical teaching awards from the University of Toronto and Western University and has also earned the American Academy of Ophthalmology Honor Award. Dr Motolko has lectured all over the world on the medical and surgical management of glaucoma. He is frequently called upon to travel to the United States to consult on challenging glaucoma cases.
