Dr. Guangyong Zou, PhD has been appointed as Acting Chair, Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics

Dr. Guangyong Zou, PhD has been appointed as Acting Chair, Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics for theSchulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University effective September 1, 2015 – August 31, 2016.

Dr. Zou is currently a Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University.He is also a Senior Biostatistician at Robarts Clinical Trials Inc, Western University, and a Scientist at Robarts Research Institute, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University.

Dr. Zou graduated with a BSc in Agronomy from Southwest College in Agriculture in China in 1985, an MSc in 1994 in Soil Science from McGill University and a MSc in Statistics at the University of Connecticut in 1998. He completed his PhD in Plant Science in 1998 from the University of Connecticut and completed his PhD in 2002 in Biostatistics from the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Western University.

As a biostatician, Dr. Zou focuses on developing and evaluating statistical methods that are useful for medical research, with an emphasis on estimation in the context of: cluster randomization trails, genetic association studies, health-related quality of life, health economic evaluation, and prospective epidemiological studies.

Dr. Zou is a member of many committees and has supervised approximately 20 graduate students. He has 94 peer-reviewed publications, and has co-authored a book chapter. He has been an invited lecturer internationally.
