Physiology and Pharmacology Seminar Series

Dr. Sigolene Meilhac, PhD, a Scientist from Institut Pasteur, Paris, France will be presenting a talk entitled, "The cell orchestra of heart morphogenesis" at the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology Seminar Series on Monday, November 24, 2014 at 4:00 pm in Dental Sciences Building 2016.

Dr. Meilhac studies heart morphogenesis with a special focus on how cells are coordinated at the level of the tissue and how their local behaviour generates global changes of organ shape. She discovered the clonal origin of myocardial cells in different regions of the embryonic mouse heart. More recently, she has developed a quantitative analysis to assess cell polarity and cell coordination in the embryonic mouse heart. Her work has increased our understanding on the cellular and molecular mechanisms that regulate heart morphogenesis.
