Profile

Gita Canaran is a Clinical Psychologist in the Treatment and Rehabilitation Program at Parkwood Mental Health, with a specific interest in psychosis and trauma. Prior to beginning her clinical work, she was involved in MRI and psychopharmacology research in schizophrenia at UWO and McMaster respectively. As adjunct faculty for the department, she provides CBT supervision to psychiatry residents and gives an annual SPMI lecture to the PGY4’s. As a trauma therapist, she continues to advocate for a better understanding of the impact and treatment of Adverse Childhood Events (ACEs) and disordered attachment through various lectures, consults, supervision of others and within our Traumatic Psychosis Community of Practice, which she is both co-chair and advanced practitioner. Outside of the hospital she sits on the Board of Directors for OAPA and enjoys a small private practice.
