Profile

Dr. David LeMarquand completed a Bachelor of Arts in psychology at the University of Waterloo in 1989, and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology at McGill University in 1998, undertaking research in the alcohol research laboratory of Dr. Robert Pihl. The research that contributed to my doctoral dissertation involved examining the role of the neurotransmitter serotonin in behavioural disinhibition. I subsequently completed a post-doc at l’Université de Montréal collaborating with Dr. Richard Tremblay, investigating the effectiveness of interventions for externalizing behaviors in children and adolescents. From 1998 to 2002, I was employed as a psychologist in the Rehabilitation and Forensic Programs at the North Bay Psychiatric Hospital. Beginning in June 2002, I accepted a position at Regional Mental Health Care London, in London Ontario, working in inpatient and outpatient settings with individuals with severe mental disorders. I attained board certification in clinical psychology with the American Board of Professional Psychology in 2010. In 2011, I began practicing in my current position in Concurrent Disorders Services, providing psychological assessment and psychotherapy to individuals with serious mental health and substance use disorders. I have been an active supervisor and leader in the London Clinical Psychology Residency Consortium. I am as well a Clinical Adjunct Professor in the clinical psychology program in the Department of Psychology at Western University. In 2014, mental health services moved to the new site on the grounds of Parkwood Hospital, becoming Parkwood Institute Mental Health Care.
