Dr. Amir Rezaei Ardani obtained his MD from Mashhad University of Medical Sciences (MUMS), Iran, in 2004. He remained at MUMS during his psychiatry residency program. In 2010, he joined Department of Psychiatry of MUMS as an assistant professor and was promoted to associate professor in 2017. He pursued his training with a one-year fellowship in forensic psychiatry in Western University in 2022. He joined Department of Psychiatry of Schulich, Western University, as an assistant professor in August 2023.

Dr. Rezaei Ardani was involved with the care of mentally-ill individuals in clinical areas which interface with addiction, including general adult psychiatry, emergency psychiatry, CL psychiatry. He was appointed to head the outpatient addiction clinic of Ibne Sina Psychiatry Hospital, Mashhad, Iran, in 2010. He was pioneer for establishing the "concurrent disorder" program in MUMS. In 2016, he initiated a treatment program for clients with dual disorders, residing in correctional settings, to address their substance use disorder. In 2017, he became the director of addiction psychiatry program as well as the head for the inpatient detoxification unit of Ibne Sina Psychiatry Hospital.

Dr. Rezaei Ardani was involved in undergraduate and postgraduate training and supervision. He was mandated to develop an addiction training program for postgraduate psychiatry program. He was the Director of Postgraduate Education for Department of Psychiatry of MUMS between 2014 and 2018. Dr. Rezaei Ardani's areas of research have recently been addiction and sleep sciences. He received research funding from Psychiatry and Behavioural Sciences Research Center, MUMS. Since joining forensic psychiatry program in 2022, he has interested in studying the utilization of harm reduction strategies for clients who are under forensic psychiatry program.
