Overall Learning Objectives for DCAP Research Half Day:
By the end of this event, each participant will be able to:
- Understand the causes, consequences, prevention, and intervention strategies related to school violence through the lens of child and adolescent mental health research.
- Describe the prevalence and forms of violence in schools, including physical, emotional, verbal, sexual, and cyber aggression.
- Discuss the psychological, academic, and social consequences of school violence for victims, perpetrators, and witnesses.
- Analyze current research on effective school-based prevention and intervention programs targeting violence.
- Discuss the role of mental health professionals in designing and implementing these interventions in collaboration with schools and communities.
- Discuss ongoing or recent research from trainees and faculty that contributes to understanding and addressing school violence.
This program has received no financial support.
The CPD Psychiatry Academic, Clinical and Educational Round Series (PACERS) are a self-approved group learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. (2 + 2 = 4.0 Total Credits)
Each participant should claim only those hours of credit spent participating in the educational program.
