Jason Atlas, MD’99, Residency, 2004
Jason and his family travelled to Israel last year and in addition to visiting with cousins, they travelled through the country and took part in an archeological dig. His daughter Naomi had her Bat Mitzvah, and Jason continues to coach his son Nathaniel’s hockey and soccer teams.

Christopher Chin, 2015
In April, Christopher won $166,000 in funding through his hospital foundation’s version of Dragons Den. It was a competition to improve the outpatient sinus clinic, and has enabled him to do more in-clinic sinus surgery. This past June, along with his wife, Miranda, he welcomed a son; his name is Joseph Neil Chin.

Winsion Chow, 2016
Winsion is going into his third year of practice in Ottawa at the Queensway Carleton Hospital as a general ENT. He is a member of the University of Ottawa’s Department of Otolaryngology in the Faculty of Medicine, where he teaches medical students and residents. He and his wife Isabelle welcomed their first baby in July 2018; her name is Isabelle.

Steve Hall, 1980
Steve did his last oral podium presentation at the COS last June and retired. He and his wife Lynn split their time between Kingston and Kelowna, and he has morphed into a ski instructor.

Jeff Jones, 1990
Jeff is starting to take a bit more time off and indulge in some non-medical interests. In the fall of 2017, he and his wife Janet went on a cycling trip in Provence, France.

Simon Kirby, 1998
Simon was recently appointed the Medical Director for Pathology, Co-director of the 3D Medical Printing and Prototyping Lab and the Head and Neck Tumour Bank at the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University. He launched a biotech/media company called SimonKirbyMD Technologies.

Damian Micomonaco, 2009
Damian recently was awarded the NOSM 2018 Clinical Scholar Award.

Marc Raymond, MD’98, Residency, 2003
Marc and his wife Kelly recently celebrated 19 years of marriage. Their son Andrew is almost 10, and has become an excellent goalie. He played for the Junior Mustangs, an A hockey team, last year, and tried out for the AAA/AA Junior Knights. He also has his conditional black belt in Karate. Their daughter Leah is eight and is involved with competitive gymnastics and is doing extremely well. Marc started car racing in the fall of 2016. In 2017, he won the CASC GT2 Championship and in 2018 moved up to the Canadian Touring Car Championship and own the Super Touring class championship.

Hatim Shawli, 1999
Hatim was appointed to the position of Assistant Professor and Chair of the Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Jeddah. Prior to this appointment, he served for 16 years as Chair of the Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at King Faisal, a specialist hospital. His eldest son Rowaid graduated from high school in April 2019.

Steven Shimotakahara, 1989
Steven is still working in ENT and doing a lot of surfing.

Susan Tan, 2014
Susan took a job in Honolulu, after completing her fellowship in 2015. She and her husband welcomed their daughter Vanessa in July 2018.
