Biography
Dr. Chan is a dedicated educator within the Core Division of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Western University, where she also completed her residency training. She holds both a B.Sc. (Hons) and an MD from the University of Toronto, and furthered her education with a Master’s in Healthcare Quality, Risk, and Safety from Queen’s University—partly funded by the Allen-Carey Award of Excellence in Women’s Health.
Dr. Chan currently serves as the Deputy Program Director for the residency program and chairs the Competency Committee. She is also the department’s Simulation Lead, coordinating multidisciplinary training scenarios for residents, and has been appointed Safety and Quality Champion for Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Her clinical practice focuses on general obstetrics and gynecology, including care in the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit (EPAU).
At the national level, Dr. Chan contributes to the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC), where she serves on both the Obstetrics Committee and the Medico-Legal and Ethics Committee, and has co-authored several national guidelines.
Research
Dr. Chan is a co-investigator on an AMOSO-funded project led by Dr. Paradis (ENT), examining the role of deliberate practice in surgical residency education. She also has a strong interest in quality improvement initiatives and is a recipient of the Faculty Development Mini Fellowship in this area.
