Obstetrics and Gynaecology Graduate Research Scholarships (OGGS)

PURPOSE OF SCHOLARSHIPS

The Obstetrics and Gynaecology Graduate Research Scholarships (OGGS) are intended to encourage and recognize excellence in research at the graduate level within the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University.

NUMBER AND VALUE OF SCHOLARSHIPS

A maximum of 2 scholarships will be awarded contingent upon available departmental funds for this program. A scholarship will be for one academic year (3 consecutive terms). Successful award holders become ineligible for additional funding from this program. It is expected that becoming an award holder will enable success in external scholarship competitions. The value of each scholarship will be $15,500 and $16,500 for M.Sc. students and Ph.D. students/Fellows respectively and will be paid by monthly installments beginning in September.

Academic Enrichment Funds (AEF) 

Up to $7500.00 to cover operating costs such as research assistant, statistician, transcription fees, laboratory consumables, small equipment purchases (e.g. electronic recorder)

Travel Fund 

Up to $2000.00 for conference fees, accommodations, travel IF presenting original scholarly work for the first time (e.g. cannot be used for multiple presentations of the same project).

Open Access Publishing (OAP) Fund  

Up to $2500 to further promote the research output of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology (Obs/Gyn) by providing financial support for open access publication fees in peer-reviewed journals.

Schulich Medicine & Dentistry Research Office

Summer Research Training Program (SRTP) 

SRTP enables first and second year medical students in Schulich Medicine & Dentistry to work under the supervision of a faculty member on a research project during the summer months, for up to two summers.

Whaley and Harding Postdoctoral Fellowship 

Whaley and Harding Postdoctoral Fellowship in Maternal/Fetal/Neonatal Research - A two-year full-time contract postdoctoral fellowship position is available to either MD and/or PhD, who has a previous track record of research in the field of maternal, fetal and newborn health. The research will be carried out in a basic science laboratory or a clinical program under the supervision of a Scientist or Associate Scientist within the CHRI of LHSCRI, affiliated with the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University.

Translational Research Grant Fund (TRGF) Paediatrics

To encourage and support translational research that aims to improve the health of mothers, infants and children and enhance translational research by stimulating collaborations between clinicians in the Department of Paediatrics and basic scientists at CHRI.

Trainee Awards

To support CHRI Scientists and Associate Scientists who are involved in child health research by providing support for their trainees.

AMOSO Opportunities Fund solely provides physician compensation for newly recruited AFP Physicians or existing AFP Physicians for new academic roles.
