Biography
Dr. Anjali Kulkarni is a Gynecologic Oncologist at London Health Sciences Centre and an Assistant Professor at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. She holds a B.Sc. (Hon.) in Mathematics with a minor in Nutritional Sciences and an MSc in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Queen’s University. She completed her MD and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, at the University of Toronto and later a fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology through the University of Ottawa.
Dr. Kulkarni’s weekly schedule includes one to two days in clinic, operating room time, and monthly colposcopy clinics. She treats the full range of gynecologic cancers with a focus on individualized, empathetic care.
Dr. Kulkarni is actively involved in clinical research, with interests in survivorship, humanistic care, and health communication. Her current research interests include exploring the influence of social media on patients’ understanding of their disease. She also serves as the London site supervisor for the national FARGO study (Frailty Assessment for Risk Prediction in Gynecologic Oncology Patients), which explores how frailty impacts oncologic outcomes in patients over 55.
Her previous work includes a systematic review on MEK inhibitors for low-grade serous ovarian cancer, studies on HPV’s role in cervical precancer recurrence, and research on the effectiveness of systemic progestins in endometrial cancer.
She has presented at international Societies of Gynaecology and Obstetrics conferences, including ESGO, IGCS, ASCO, and ASCCP, and published in journals such as Cancer Medicine, Current Oncology, and JOGC (Journal of Gynaecology and Obstetrics). Her work reflects a commitment to advancing treatment while improving the lived experience of patients through informed, compassionate care.
Outside of work, Dr. Kulkarni enjoys a vibrant family life with her husband, a senior machine learning engineer, and their energetic toddler. A lifelong figure skater, she has previously completed Gold-level Ice Dance tests. She is also a trained pianist and enjoys music and Peloton workouts in her downtime.
