I am very proud to serve as the Chair- Chief- Department Head for Obstetrics and Gynecology at Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Western University, St. Joseph’s Healthcare London and London Health Sciences Centre,

We are proud to be the tertiary/ quaternary care centre for Southwestern Ontario, with one of the largest single site birthing centres in the country. Our team of Obstetricians and Gynecologists are providing excellent and complete care to women in all stages of health. We have recently completed the accreditation process from Accreditation Canada, and along with the LHSC organization as a whole, the Women’s Care Program received exemplary status.

We care for patients in all aspects of Obstetrics and Gynecology care including Cancer care, Fertility, Transgender care and Pregnancy options programs. We have developed some innovative programs like the Antenatal Day Program, the Urogynecology Continence clinic and a first in Canada collaboration with Ronald McDonald House to keep families close when a pregnant person needs to be far from home for the safety of the pregnancy. We have completed the relocation of The Fertility Clinic to a new external site, OMEGA Fertility, where our physicians can provide specialized care to an increasing need for fertility and family planning services.

In July 2019, OB/Gyn departments across the country, including here at Western University, transitioned to Competency By Design (CBD) to improve and expand our reach in promoting excellence in teaching during residency training. We have been successful in our most recent accreditation review by the royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in 2025. We have a full complement of subspecialties for well rounded residency training and have Fellowship training in Maternal Fetal Medicine, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and Urogynecology

We have also expanded our Simulation Education programs within our specialty and inter-disciplinary to improve education and quality of care. The Michael Gunning Simulation Centre is also a site for educational research utilizing simulation scenarios. Our educational mission is thriving under optimistic leadership and faculty support for these new initiatives and the introduction of new tools and resources.

We are continuing our collaboration with affiliated research institutes at Children’s Health Rese arch Institute and Lawson Health Research Institute, with a wide range of ongoing research with particular focus on fetal development, fetal origins of adult disease, reproductive health ovarian cancer, and most recently on Medical Education research and Placental Pharmacotherapy with the hiring of leading researchers in each field.

We are continuing to build the department with new consultants in the areas of Pediatric Gynecology, Menopause health and Transgender car and Sexual medicine. With our continued growth we strive to meet the needs of our patients and families today and into the future.
