Getting Started at Schulich

Once you have matched to a residency position, there are several steps required before your training begins.

Registration

You will receive your registration package:

  • Late March (current residents)
  • Early April (new residents)

The package will contain your Western Identity and Schulich Hub login information. Once received, you must login to the Hub and:

  • Accept your Letter of Appointment (LOA)
  • Complete the PGME Registration Form 
  • Pay your annual registration fee

Key Requirements

Your certificate of registration to practice medicine in Ontario. IRenewed each academic year (July 1 - June 30). It is an offense under the Medicine Act, 1991 to practice medicine in Ontario without a valid certificate of registration from the CPSO. You can not undertake residency trainign wihout a valid certificate of registration from the CPSO.

How to Apply

Required for all residents. Provides legal protection and professional support - your medical liability insurance protection. 

Apply to CMPA

Residents are compensated by the Ontario Ministry of Health according to agreements between PARO and the Ontario Council of Teaching Hospitals. Medical Affairs will provide information about setting up your salary payment.

PARO Salary Scale

Residents are registered as students of Western University and can access Western’s Off-Campus Housing Services for available listings and resources.
