Committees in Postgraduate Medical Education
The PGME Office maintains a committee structure that supports the governance, oversight, and continuous improvement of postgraduate medical education at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry.
These committees and subcommittees help ensure compliance with accreditation standards while supporting program administration, assessment, policy development, resident success, and quality improvement.

Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) Committee
Supports the Associate Dean, PGME, in the planning, organization, and evaluation of residency and AFC education programs.
Meets: 10 times per year (September–June)

Residency Allocation Subcommittee (RAC)
Responsible for decisions related to the allocation of CaRMS PGY1 positions across residency programs.

PGME Advisory Board
Reviews and approves remediation and probation plans for residents and provides guidance on individual learning and support plans.
Meets: Monthly
Submission deadline: Minimum two weeks before meeting date

Appeals Committee
Hears appeals related to resident assessment, AFC programs, and fellowship probation, suspension, and termination policies.

AFC Subcommittee
Supports the planning, organization, and evaluation of Area of Focused Competence (AFC) education programs and provides support to AFC Program Directors and Administrators.
Meets: At least four times per year
