Planning for success

If your dream is to have an influence on health care in Canada, the cost of professional school should not limit your dream.

While the pursuit of a DDS or MD degree is not inexpensive, there are options available to help defray the cost of your dental or medical education.

Successfully financing your education means careful planning and close attention to budgeting. Estimating costs, identifying resources, and developing strategies to meet financial requirements and commitments should be a part of your plan to attend professional school.

Funding your education

The following list is provided as a guideline, designed to stimulate thoughts about your particular needs:

  • rent/mortgage
  • utilities
  • internet/phone
  • books
  • food
  • household essentials
  • clothing
  • laundry
  • vehicle
  • travel/transportation
  • entertainment
  • personal/incidental costs
  • fees, i.e. insurance, license renewals, subscriptions, memberships, etc.

Current and historic fee schedules for Medicine and Dentistry* can be found on the Office of the Registrar website.
