Homecoming Weekend

Homecoming 2019

Thank you for joining us for Homecoming weekend.

We started the day with a thought-provoking discussion on burnout and mental health in medicine and dentistry. Our panel of professionals and learners emphasized that burnout is not just about workload, but also about helplessness and lack of connection. We heard what the School and teaching hospitals are doing to combat the issue among faculty, staff and learners.

The 2019 Dean's Distinguished Lecture Award recipient, Dr. Danyaal Raza, delivered a compelling lecture on Medicare and prescription drugs, sharing with the audience the necessity of universal pharmacare.

Alumni, friends and family shared fond memories over a delicious lunch before heading to the football game.

The day capped off with the first ever Dean's Alumni Cocktail Reception. The celebratory evening included a toast to our reunion classes in attendance (1969 and 1989), and honoured the 2019 Alumni of Distinction Recipients. We were even serenaded with bagpipes.

On Sunday, alumni gathered for a commemorative brunch where stories were shared and anniversary pins were presented.
