September 26, 2025 - 12:00pm: Daniel Giguere
Daniel did his PhD at Western University studying microbial genomics, focused on developing end-to-end methods including both laboratory and computational techniques to better understand microbial function. He was recruited to a VC-backed hardware startup in Boston, Volta Labs, where he contributed to the development of a benchtop automation platform for preparing DNA sequencing samples. There, he played lead roles in developing and implementing workflows, interfacing with early customers, and building the data analytics infrastructure from scratch to support internal R&D. Daniel is now focused on building his own company Flow Genomics, Canada's Next Day DNA Sequencing service.
October 22, 2025 – 12:00pm: Sarah Chadwick
Sarah is an Advanced Imaging Specialist in the microscopy division of Nikon Canada. She joined Nikon in 2023 and helps scientists learn and use advanced microscopy techniques while also consulting on microscope configurations and experimental design. Before her current role, Sarah received both her BMSc in Biochemistry and PhD in Anatomy and Cell Biology from Western University. She also completed a postdoctoral fellowship at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto. Both her graduate and postdoctoral studies gave her the opportunity to learn the imaging and analysis techniques she now uses on a daily basis, and her current role gives her the opportunity to be involved in new and exciting research and to continue learning as microscopy methods evolve.
November 28, 2025 – 12:00pm: Reza Asakereh ( Register here )
Reza Asakereh is a Senior Software Engineer at Roche, where he develops data pipelines and analysis tools that help transform complex healthcare data into meaningful insights.
He completed his Master’s in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Western University, spending much of his time at Victoria Hospital—mostly not as a patient! Supervised by Dr. Parisa Shooshtari and Dr. Qi Zhang, his graduate work was a curious journey in the intersection of data science and healthcare.
After graduation, he spent a year working in public health with the University Health Network in Toronto before making the leap into the pharmaceutical world. Along the way, he's been proud to contribute to projects like MedSAM, which have made a real impact in medical data analysis.
When he’s not debugging code, he enjoys connecting with others who are curious about non-linear career paths and how computers can drive better health care.
