Update on Canadian Common CV Issues

Thursday, July 26, 2012

A meeting was held on July 19, 2012 to discuss the ongoing issues and challenges of the upgrade to the Canadian Common CV system, especially with respect to the upcoming CIHR, HSF, and other grant competitions. Attached are some summary notes from that meeting. These notes include:
  1. Comments and questions from the meeting participants
  2. A list of outstanding questions to be directed to Common CV and Sponsors
  3. Questions to CIHR on specific issues from individual users, with CIHR's answers provided via email correspondence

Please feel free to share these notes with others.

Western is contacting CIHR to express our concerns, focusing on the following three key questions:

  1. can CIHR provide more bandwidth, so users aren't frozen out?
  2. can CIHR give clear guidance to users regarding what will /will not acceptable for the September Operating Grant competition. HSF has a statement on their website - can CIHR do something similar. (see http://www.hsf.ca/research/en/common-cv-modification-hsfc-template )
  3. what guidance will CIHR be giving to reviewers? Will they accept that because of problems with CCV, CVs may not all look alike.

Users with questions on CCV can also contact CIHR directly. A contact person at CIHR is Kristina Casey, Kristina.Casey@cihr-irsc.gc.ca

A second meeting to discuss CCV is scheduled for:

Date: August 10, 2012
Time: 2:00 - 3:00 pm
Location: LHSC-VH, B2_119

The meeting is open to all interested parties.

The Research Office of the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry will continue to provide details on any progress made on this matter.
