Through our clinical work, research and education programs, our department is committed to maximizing function and participation in life for those with disabling conditions including stroke, spinal cord injury, acquired brain injury, amputations, and neuromuscular disorders. |
MissionOur mission is to continue to develop expertise as an academic and clinical department; to provide exemplary patient care in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation throughout London and the Southwestern Ontario region; to advocate for physically disabled persons and their families for their rights in society; to create a departmental environment that values the contribution of each members.
Our LocationThe Department is located at the Parkwood Hospital site of St. Joseph's Health Care London. The Department maintains a presence at St. Joseph's Health Care London, Mount Hope Site (EMG Clinic) and Grosvenor Site (Pain Clinic) .
Our HistoryThe University of Western Ontario Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation was originally started at a single site, Victoria Hospital. It later expanded to three sites in 1972 and a fourth site was added at Parkwood Hospital in 1984. The Department was consolidated to a single site at Parkwood Hospital in 2002.
