Biography

Dr.Sefein have a unique blend of medical training and experience. He graduated from Cairo University Medical School to commence residency training in Cardiology and Critical Care in Egypt. After graduation, He practiced as a cardiologist and intensive care specialist in Saudi Arabia, with a special focus on the perioperative management of adult patients undergoing cardiac surgery.

Dr.Sefein came to Canada for further training as a clinical fellow in the Critical Care Unit (Cardiac Surgery Unit) at University Hospital, LHSC for two years. Then he switched to the specialty of anesthesia, completed anesthesia residency and cardiac anesthesia fellowship training at Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry. He obtained the Advanced Perioperative TEE Diplomat from the National Board of Echocardiography. 

In August 2021, I was appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesia & Perioperative Medicine, with a cross appointment in the Department of Medicine, Division of Critical Care.

Dr.Sefein have a strong passion in education and teaching. These interests were recently recognized when he was appointed as Program Director of Anesthesia Fellowship Program and as the Director of Medical Education in the Cardiac Surgery Recovery Unit.
