Chair/Chief Appointed in Department of Psychiatry

Chair/Chief, Department of Psychiatry- Following the approval of the Hospital Boards and subject to the approval by the President and Board of Governors of the University, we are delighted to announce that Dr. Paul Links has been appointed as Chair/Chief of the Department of Psychiatry in the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, and its teaching hospitals, London Health Sciences Centre & St. Joseph's Health Care London effective January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2016.

Dr. Links graduated with a Bachelor of Medical Sciences in 1969 and an MD in 1973, both from the University of Alberta. He also received his Master's of Science in Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics in 1988 from McMaster University. Dr. Links was the Deputy Chief of Psychiatry at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, Ontario as well as Professor in the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto. He received the Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention Research Award for outstanding contributions to the field of suicide research in Canada in 2009.

Dr. Link's research speciality includes a content expertise in suicide and suicide prevention and in the study of personality disorders. Dr. Links has held the role of the Arthur Sommer Rotenberg Endowed Chair in Suicide Studies at the University of Toronto for the past 15 years. His current research is funded by CIHR and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board. He is a member of many National Societies and serves on the editorial boards of many prominent journals.
