The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry - Windsor Program invites applications for an Ancillary Academic Staff - Anatomy Learning Specialist (AAS-LS) position commencing on August 1, 2010 or as soon thereafter as possible.

This is a probationary position within the Windsor University Faculty Association leading to permanence. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in Anatomy, with significant experience in the preparation and maintenance of anatomical specimens for teaching. Experience must include prosection of all parts of the human body. Additionally the successful candidate will have significant experience in teaching anatomy to medical students as a laboratory demonstrator. Experience of the Schulich undergraduate medical curriculum would be an asset. The incumbent will have excellent oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively with students in a professional, pleasant, and supportive manner.

Specific responsibilities will include: maintenance of the anatomy laboratories in the Medical Education Building, including purchase of required instruments and materials; managing the transfer of cadaver materials between the London and Windsor campuses of the school; dissection of cadaver material in preparation for laboratory teaching; laboratory teaching to undergraduate medical students; collaborating with the Undergraduate Curriculum Administrator in the scheduling of all laboratories; contributing to undergraduate anatomy teaching according to the agreement; advising the Associate Dean of all maintenance, safety, and regulatory issues within the anatomy lab and making recommendations for improvements to the lab facilities and practices.
The successful candidate will report to the Associate Dean / Director, Medical Studies, University of Windsor, coordinate teaching with the Chair of the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology of the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, participate in meetings of the Clinical Anatomy Division of the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology of the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry and work closely with the faculty and staff of the Windsor Program and London program.
