Acting Assistant Dean Rural Regional named

Dr. Shamim Tejpar has been named Acting Assistant Dean, Rural and Regional Medicine for the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry from January 15, 2009 until June 30, 2009.

Dr. Shamim Tejpar graduated from Pahlavi University in Shiraz, Iran, in 1978 after which she moved to Canada. Dr. Tejpar, did her Paediatric Residency, at the Janeway Hospital, Memorial University of Newfoundland. She got her fellowship in 1985. Dr. Tejpar now calls Stratford, Ontario home, where she started the Special Care Nursery, and the Department of Paediatrics as it is today. She has been the Chief of the Department of Paediatrics since then.

Since 1990, Dr. Tejpar has been the coordinator for the Medical Student and Resident Rotations in Paediatrics at the Stratford General Hospital. She has been involved with SWOMEN all along, and has served as the Academic Director of Paediatrics. She sat on the Post Graduate Education Committee for the Department of Paediatrics, before sitting on the Residency Program Committee for the Department of Paediatrics at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry.

Dr. Tejpar has been an interviewer for the CaRMS candidates for Paediatrics, and also an examiner for the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination Part ll. She has been the chair of the CME committee at Stratford General Hospital, as well as the organizer of the "Annual Paediatrics for the Family Physician."
