In 2018, Dr. Vladimir Hachinski was among a group of exceptional Canadian health care leaders inducted into The Canadian Medical Hall of Fame, and was named a Killam Prize recipient. A Distinguished University Professor in Clinical Neurological Sciences, Dr. Hachinski is a worldrenowned neurologist who has transformed the understanding, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of the two greatest threats to the brain: stroke and dementia. He coined the term “brain attack” for stroke to emphasize urgency in dealing with stroke symptoms. Dr. Hachinski is a pioneer in his field, a role model for Canadians and an inspiration to the youth pursuing careers in the health sciences.
