Registration Requirements & Arrival
University and Hospital Registration
Preparing for your training involves registration with:
- Western University
- Your sponsoring agency
- The College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
- Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)
- Hospital Medical Affairs
Requirements are completed in stages before and after your arrival in Canada.
Training registration cannot proceed until PGME receives official sponsorship approval directly from your sponsoring agency.
Before You Arrive in Canada
After you sign and return your training offer letter:
- PGME will send your official acceptance letter to your sponsoring agency.
- PGME will request the sponsorship approval document.
- You will be copied on this communication.
Once sponsorship is confirmed, the PGME International Trainee Coordinator will provide you with:
- CPSO licensing application instructions
- Work permit and visa guidance
- Required registration documentation (e.g. Letter of Appointment, Offer of Employment number for LMIA-Exemption)
About 12 Weeks Before Start DateYou will receive:

Use your Western credentials to access the Schulich Hub and complete your university registration requirements. |
Approximately 60 days before your start date, Medical Affairs will email a hospital onboarding package outlining mandatory requirements for hospital privileges.
Upon Arrival in Canada

Monitor your registration status in the Schulich Hub. Training cannot begin until all requirements are complete.
Provide the following to the PGME office to set up your monthly living allowance:
- Social Insurance Number (SIN)
- Direct deposit form
- Local London address
