    Congratulations to the following AMOSO Opportunity Fund Research Funding Competition Recipients: Dr. Pencilla Lang, $195,000 over 3 years for “Preservation of Swallowing in Resected Oral Cavity Squamous Cells: Examining Radiation Volume Effects (PRESERVE)” and Dr. Armen Parsyan, $195.000 over 3 years for “Enhancing Translational Breast Cancer Research Program and Multidisciplinary Collaborations Through Support of Clinicians-Scientist”.

  • Breast Cancer Society of Canada Announcement

    On December 16, 2020, the London Health Sciences Foundation announced the continuation of a long-standing partnership with the Breast Cancer Society of Canada as they make a $2.5 million commitment through 2030 for breast cancer research. In honour of this generous partnership, the current Pamela Greenaway-Kohlmeier Translational Breast Cancer Research Unit at London Health Sciences Centre London Regional Cancer Program will be renamed as the Breast Cancer Society of Canada Translational Research Unit at LRCP.

  • Fall Catalyst Grant Competition Awardees Announced

    The London Regional Cancer Program Catalyst Grants for Translational Cancer Research review panel recently recommended to the Executive Council of the LRCP funding for projects submitted to the 2020 Fall Competition. This program, open to all primary and cross-appointees in the Department of Oncology at Western University (and their collaborators), supports translational cancer research with potential to attract and retain external funding and to lead to clinical applications that reduce the burden of cancer. Congratulations to all Awardees.

  • Dr. Paula Foster awarded Dean's Awards of Excellence for Faculty Research

    Dr. John Yoo, Dean, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry has named Dr. Paula Foster, PhD. as the recipient of the 2020 Dean's Awards of Excellence for Faculty Research. Paula is a Professor in the Department of Medical Biophysics and a Scientist at the Roberts Research Institute where she is the leader of the Cellular and Molecular Imaging program. The CTCR would like to congratulate Dr. Paula Foster on this incredible recognition.

  • Dr. Qi Zhang joins the CTCR

    Dr. Qi Zhang, Associate Professor, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University joins the Centre for Translational Research today. Dr. Zhang is also an Associate Scientist with Lawson Health Research Institute and a pathologist at London Health Science Centre. Dr. Zhang's clinical activities include neuropathology (surgical and autopsy) and anatomical pathology (GI tract). His research interests are in basic neuroscience and neuropathological diseases. Welcome!

  • CTCR Member, Dr. Silvia Penuela Awarded 2020 Dean's Award of Excellence - Junior Faculty

    Dr. Silvia Penuela joined the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology in 2014 as an Assistant Professor and has since built a strong cell biology research program. Silvia has made significant contributions to her field of study and is a highly regarded scientist and collaborator both nationally and internationally. Silvia has a passion for mentoring and training research trainees and is being recognized for her outstanding performance. Silvia is a recent addition to the Centre of Translational Cancer Research and serves as a member of the management committee. Congratulations!

  • Dr. Timothy Nguyen joins the CTCR.

    The CTCR welcomes its newest member, Dr. Timothy Nguyen. Dr. Nguyen is an radiation oncologist at the London Regional Cancer Centre and specializes in CNS tumors, Oligometastatic disease, GI malignancies, neuroendocrine tumors and palliative radiotherapy. Tim is also the radiation oncologist lead for spine SABR and the CBME lead for postgraduate radiation oncology medical education. Tim can be reached at timothy.nguyen@lhsc.on.ca. We look forward to working collaboratively with him.
