Dentistry's Sweet Success - Holiday Fundraising 2022

Dentistry's bake sale goodies on display

November 2022

Schulich Dentistry's sweet tooth has paid off for Londoners experiencing homelessness this holiday season. This year, the hugely successful bake sale was complemented by an opportunity to purchase "candy-grams" to send a smile to someone special. Akili Aitcheson assembled more than 75 treats with personalized notes and Andrea Marsh joined her to personally deliver some festive cheer.

candygrams When the donations were tallied, we confirmed that an astonishing $1,072 was raised  between noon and 3:00 pm on Thursday, November 24th!

The bake sale is the kickoff to our "Time to Give and Gather" 2022 holiday fundraising initiative to support Unity Project's Santa Sacks campaign, coordinated by Dentistry's social committee. Last year, through the generosity of Dentistry faculty, staff, and students we were able to donate more than $5,000 to this cause. donations

Thanks in no small part to Dentistry Director Dr. Carlos Quinoñez's pledge to match donations up to $1,000, we are proud to announce that the campaign total currently sits at $2,782. It's not too late to get in on the action, though, as our campaign will run until Dec. 8, 2022. Please consider making a donation of your own and sharing this link within your own networks: https://unityproject.kindful.com/santa-sacks-2022/schulich-dentistry-santa-sacks-team

Visitors to the bake sale also had a chance to purchase tickets for the "500-Only Lottery" in support of The Wright Clinic. This is a great twist on fundraising: a maximum of 500 tickets will be sold at $100 each. Starting in January, a draw will be held each week for a $500 cash prize, and ticketholders are eligible to win every week for 50 weeks. Reach out to Dr. Harvey Goldberg (hagoldberg@uwo.ca) or Natalie Brown (natalie.brown@schulich.uwo.ca) if you would like more information.

We can't wait to see what the social committee has in store for us next!
