Tips and tricks for Apple devices

Have you ever wondered how to change various settings on your iPad or iPhone?

Here are some of the most common questions and their answers:

Q: How do I connect my iPad or iPhone to a projector?
A: The best way to connect to a projector is through an adapter. Please contact the Helpdesk for assistance in obtaining the correct adapter for your iPad.

Q: Why do I get prompts to connect to wireless networks?
A: There is a setting in Apple products to turn this on or off. Open the settings application (the gear), then select Wi-Fi. Toward the bottom of the Wi-Fi settings screen, there is a toggle switch "Ask to Join Networks" - white indicates that notifications are off, green indicated that notifications are on.

Q: My device is making too much noise. How do I mute it?
A: There are two answers to this question, depending on your desired effect. First, in order to mute the device, there is a switch just above the volume buttons - the red dot or bar indicates that the iPhone or iPad is muted (it will still vibrate).

Secondly, you can also turn on 'Do Not Disturb.' To do this, swipe up from the bottom of the screen, and click the moon icon at the top. This will stop all vibrations and sounds, but still notify you on the screen (it can also be configured to allow certain contacts to still notify you).
