Visiting Residents Electives

The elective process is outlined in the Undergraduate Medical Education Website at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University.

EMG Rotation

This is an elective that is very well regarded and sought after by residents in other physiatry programs. It is an elective that involves electrodiagnostic and neuromuscular evaluations and is run conjointly through PMR and Neurology.

Other Rotations

We are now consistently taking elective residents from other programs. Specifically, we are taking residents from Neurology and Orthopedics during the PGY2 year. We are also taking geriatric residents during the PGY4/5 years. These rotations are primarily inpatient with some outpatient exposure. We attempt to place the residents into the most suitable rotation for their specialty. For instance, we attempt to expose orthopedic residents to the inpatient MSK unit, amputee rehab, orthotics, prosthetics, and electrodiagnostic. We attempt to expose neurology residents to rehab in stroke, spinal cord, brain injury, and electrodiagnostic. We try and expose geriatric residents to primarily outpatient physiatry.
