Hair analysis

The extraction and analysis of drugs, environmental pollutants and endogenous compounds from hair samples provides a non-invasive tool for a multitude of research and clinical diagnostic purposes. Deposition of drugs and hormones into hair during growth allows for retrospective quantification. This is a unique feature of hair analysis that serves as a chronological record of exposure. In the DSLab, we perform hair cortisol analysis with a wide range of applications in studying stress, pain and diseases related to cortisol homoeostasis. The technique also has applications in social, anthropological and archeological studies.
