March 12, 2020 Due to the evolving world-wide situation regarding COVID-19, all hospital-led events at St. Joseph’s Hospital during the months of March and April are being re-evaluated for the health and safety of our patients, visitors, and staff. As a consequence of new hospital restrictions, the "Diagnosis and Treatment of Common Hand/Wrist Disorders: A Course for Family Physicians and Residents” conference scheduled for April 22, 2020 will be postponed. A new date will be decided upon in the forthcoming weeks.

September 20, 2019 Congratulations to Dr. Joy MacDermid on be elected to the Royal Society of Canada (RSC). Election to Fellowship in the RSC, Canada’s national academy, is the highest honour that can be attained by Canadian scholars, researchers, and artists. Dr. MacDermid was inducted during ceremonies on November 22nd in Ottawa.
July 15, 2019 Dr. Bing Siang Gan, Professor in the Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, was inducted as the new President of the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons at the society's annual meeting in St. John's Newfoundland in late June, after serving on the Board of the Society for the past five years.
August 15, 2018 Dr. Ruby Grewal was selected by the COA’s Exchange Fellowships Committee as one of the two 2019 ABC fellows. She will join five American colleagues, selected by the American Orthopaedic Association, on the ABC fellowship tour next Spring. The ABC Travelling Fellowship is an educational exchange shared by a group of young orthopaedic surgeons selected by the American, British, Canadian, New Zealand, Australian and South African orthopaedic associations. May 15, 2018 Pavlos Bobos, a PhD candidate working in the Roth|McFarlane Hand & Upper Limb Centre Clinical Research Lab, was awarded the top ranking PhD application from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).

HULC is now recognized as a world-renowned centre of excellence in education, research, and the diagnosis, care, and treatment of patients with complex conditions affecting hands, wrists, elbows and shoulders.

June 01, 2017 Congratulations to Dr. Douglas Ross on being announced as the recipient of the fourth annual CSPS President’s Medal. The President’s Medal recognizes Dr. Ross’s extraordinary contribution to the betterment of the field of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Ross received his award at the 71st Annual Meeting of the CSPS in June.
