Dr. Monidipa Dasgupta and Nurse Practitioners Karli Crunican, Lyndsay Beker and Michael Olawoore have been recognized with the LHSC Patient Safety Champion Award in the Team category for their impactful work on the Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) Unit. Their initiative, No Holds: Alternatives to Restraints for Respect, Mobility, and Safety (No-HARRMS), significantly reduced the use of physical restraints through evidence-informed interventions including NP case management, staff education, policy updates, and dynamic documentation tools.

Dr. Manuel Montero-Oddasso - 2025 recipient of the Irma M Parhad Award for Excellence, a national award in Neurology and Dementia. The plaque and award will be presented to Dr. Montero-Odasso during the Canadian Conference of Dementia (CCD) meeting in October.August
PhD student, Eden Mancor - supervised by our team member Karen Li at Concordia University, won the best abstract prize at the 2025 AAIC in Toronto for her analysis of our SYNERGIC trial, specifically on lifetime cognitive and motor reserve predictors of responsiveness to exercise and cognitive training
Dr. Manuel Montero-Oddasso - has received the CIHR CCNA Team Grant for $1.2 million over 4 years. This grant will fund the development of prediction models for dementia using motor markers, as well as the creation of the Canadian Guidelines for Proactive Lifestyle Interventions to improve cognition and delay dementia.

Dr. Jenny Thain - appointed as Clinical Lead for Hip Fracture by Ontario Health. In this provincial leadership role, Dr. Thain will collaborate closely with the Ontario Health team to enhance hip fracture care across the province, focusing on the implementation of Hip Fracture Quality Standards through knowledge dissemination and education.

Dr. Manuel Montero-Odasso - Dr. Montero-Odasso’s paper, detailing the secondary outcomes of the “SYNERGIC Trial” on gait and falls, was presented during the prestigious Presidential Session at the American Geriatrics Society (AGS) Meeting in Chicago. This session features only the highest-ranked submissions, making this a significant recognition of the study's impact and excellence.

Orthogeriatric Hip Team - Winner of the Team Patient Safety Award for London Health Sciences Centre. Dr. Jenny Thain as part of the Orthogeriatric Hip Team were recognized for winning the Team Patient Safety Award for LHSC as a result of the tremendous collaborative work to advance excellence and integrate care as it relates to the Orthogeriatric Hip Population at VH. Building an interprofessional implementation team was key and done with excellence ensuring quality standards were implemented with clear vision and purposed. As such the Orthogeriatric Hip Team has been recognized and as one that has applied an evidence informed quality improvement project that has improved outcomes for patient safety.
