Celebrating Our Achievements

May 2023

Awards

Congratulations to Lisa Johnson and Stephanie Durnin on their Schulich Awards of Excellence. Lisa was recognized for Inspirational Leadership and Stephanie received the award for Innovation.

Nominators praised Lisa’s commitment to collaboration and improving processes, as well as her dedication to making her team’s wellbeing a priority.

“She is a natural leader in any room, but never needs to exert authority,” declared one nominator, “she earns it with her calm and wise communication.”

Described as solution-driven with a quality-improvement mindset by one of her nominators, Stephanie was recognized for her innovative projects, including the implementation of a system to track Dentistry’s dental instruments with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags, which has already made an impact on assets in the clinics. “Stephanie identifies issues and gaps,” another nominator shared, “and moves toward providing solutions and implementing them.”

Other nominees included Jasmine Arsenault for the Newcomer Award and Danielle Lapthorne for the Spirit Award. Howard James, Devin Hutchinson, and Andrew Kralka were also nominated as a team for the Award for Continuous Excellence.

We also congratulate Dr. Selma Saadaldin who was presented with the Postgraduate Certificate in Dental Education award from the School of Medicine, University of Dundee, UK.

Finally, we would like to celebrate Eunice Park, DDS Candidate 2023, for receiving the Outstanding Student Leader Award from the American College of Dentists (ACD) Ontario Section. This award is given for outstanding leadership, scholastic performance, and potential for impact on the profession of dentistry while a dental student with Schulich Dentistry.
