ADEA Climate Study

The American Dental Education Association (ADEA) has launched a Climate Study survey .

Data collected from this survey will provide evidence-based environmental data and record the perceptions of students, faculty, and staff in academic dentistry regarding the culture of dental schools across North America.

The ADEA believes that in order to increase and improve diversity within the oral health professions and the dental education pathway, dental education must ensure a humanistic climate and advance programming and policies that promote equity, inclusion and belongingness for all faculty, students, staff, residents and fellows. Their goal is to understand the lived experiences and environmental perceptions in dental education.

ADEA President and CEO Dr. Karen West provides more detail in this video.

Schulich Dentistry will receive an individualized confidential campus report, which will assist Dentistry in its own programmatic planning.  Commitment to equity and inclusion is a critical component of the School’s and Western’s strategic plans and this survey will provide important information in our work

The privacy of faculty, staff, and students is of utmost importance. The ADEA is undertaking multiple precautionary measures to ensure confidentiality and de-identification of data. *No personally identifiable information will be shared.

The survey will take about 15 minutes to complete, and participants will have the option to submit a separate online form to enter randomized drawings for prizes. For more information on the ADEA climate study, please visit adea.org/climatestudy or contact Dr. Santos at gsantos3@uwo.ca.
