Success for Schulich SPEA Event

The Student Professionalism and Ethics Association (SPEA) is a national, student driven association that was established to promote and support students’ lifelong commitment to ethical behavior to benefit the patients they serve and to further the dental profession.

Under the supervision of the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry and SPEA faculty advisors, this local chapter aims to raise awareness of professionalism and ethics among students, encourage discussions, and provide resources to empower students with the tools to learn.

Over 100 dental students welcomed Dr. Edwards and Dr. Troncone as they shed light on life beyond graduation and shared their personal insights on what to expect as new dentists. Their presentations were followed by a two-hour Q & A session, during which students actively engaged in discussions and raised a broad range of questions.  Many students expressed that the event was a great opportunity to gain a better understanding of dentistry outside of the academic setting.

SPEA would like to thank both the guest speakers and students who made our debut event a success.  More events will be planned in the future.
