Dr. Payne is an Adjunct Clinical Professor in the Division of Orthodontics and Paediatric Dentistry at Western University, where he has taught for over 25 years. In 2004, he was awarded the C.Y. Lung Award for Excellence in Teaching. He is also Associate Chief Examiner in Paediatric Dentistry for the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. In 2013, he was awarded a Fellowship in the International College of Dentists. Dr. Payne is a Past President of the London and District Dental Society and a consultant at both the London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care Centre.
On the evening of Tuesday, November 15, 2016, the annual Fall Awards reception will be held for student award recipients at The Garden, Sommerville House. The reception recognizes student achievements during years two through four of the DDS program, as well as contributions from part-time faculty with two faculty awards.
The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry will host the Schulich Dentistry Annual Research Day on Thursday, October 13, 2016. The day will feature student poster presentations and the 15th John T. Hamilton Distinguished Lecture to be delivered by Jocelyne S. Feine, DDS, HDR. Dr. Feine is a Professor in the Oral Health and Society Division, Faculty of Dentistry and also an Associate Member, Dept. of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health, and Dept. of Oncology, Faculty of Medicine, McGill University. In addition, other dental students currently involved in research projects in our School, are invited to present their work. Dental Faculty and lab members are encouraged to attend. Dental Academic Research Trainees (DART) are holding their first Journal Club on April 27 (5:30 at the Grad Club). This event will include a light dinner and 10 minute presentation followed by a student-lead discussion about the chosen journal article. Although this is a student-lead discussion, Dr. Al-Osman has agreed to join this event to provide his expertise with regard to this periodontics article.
