Our cardiology elective program provides a robust and enriching experience for residents, regardless of their intended specialty. We offer comprehensive training designed to equip you with fundamental skills and knowledge applicable across a wide range of medical disciplines. Whether you aspire to a cardiology fellowship or are exploring other career paths, our program will enhance your clinical acumen and prepare you to excel in your chosen field.
The clinical program serves Southwestern Ontario, with primary and tertiary care services. An elective block, may consist of 4 weeks of experience in the Coronary Care Unit or the Cardiology Ward, including daily rounds, emergency room and off-service consultations, small-group teaching sessions and scheduled on-call responsibilities. Electives are also possible in heart failure and electrophysiology.
Our curriculum emphasizes practical, hands-on learning, allowing you to develop proficiency in key areas such as cardiovascular physical exam, ECG interpretation and other diagnostic techniques, and patient management. You'll gain valuable experience working alongside our expert faculty, participating in patient care, and contributing to a dynamic learning environment. This immersive experience will not only strengthen your understanding of cardiovascular medicine but also cultivate critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills essential for any physician.

Elective trainees must meet the eligibility requirements for the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry.
