  • building and sustaining positive professional culture across our clinical academic environments, in collaboration with the Office of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Decolonization, Learner Experience, Continuing Professional Development and hospital partners;
  • developing and enhancing sustainable mentorship cultures that support recruitment, retention and growth across the academic career span;

Dr. Gratton completed his MD and Obstetrics and Gynecology training at Western University. He then completed his fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Since joining the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1997, Dr. Gratton has made substantial contributions to the clinical, educational and academic missions of Schulich Medicine & Dentistry. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Maternal Fetal Medicine consultant at London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC).

His recent educational contributions include teaching and mentoring on professionalism, honesty, integrity, the duty of care and the privilege of physician self-regulation. He has also supported learners through coaching and mentorship focused on professional development and success.

Dr. Gratton has served as Chief of Obstetrics, Director of Maternal Fetal Medicine and Director of Obstetrical Ultrasound at LHSC. His leadership approach emphasizes early, constructive engagement, fostering collegiality and supporting physicians across all stages of their academic careers.

His recent experience as Chair of the Board of Directors/President of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario has further demonstrated his ability to lead in complex environments. In this role, he worked closely with physicians, public members and system partners to advance policies and governance structures that promote quality of care and public trust. Through his work with the College, Dr. Gratton has gained experience supporting physicians in professional development, fostering reflective practice and promoting cultures of continuous learning and wellbeing.
