Announcement: Dr. Arlene MacDougall appointed Assistant Dean, Clinician Research Training

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Arlene MacDougall has been appointed as Assistant Dean, Clinician Research Training, at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, effective July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2031.

Dr. MacDougall completed her MD at the University of British Columbia, followed by a residency in Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University, during which she also completed a Master of Science in Neuroscience and the Clinician Investigator Program. She subsequently completed a joint fellowship in Early Psychosis Intervention and Global Mental Health at Dalhousie University.

Dr. MacDougall joined Schulich Medicine and Dentistry in 2013 as a Clinician Researcher and is now an Associate Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Since 2019, she has also served as the Director of Research for the Department of Psychiatry.  

She was recently recognized as a Western Faculty Scholar (2026-2028) and was awarded the 2026 Schulich Mid-Career Award of Excellence in Research and Innovation.

Dr. MacDougall is excited by the opportunity to help strengthen and evolve Schulich Medicine & Dentistry’s clinician research training ecosystem during a period of important renewal and opportunity.
