Dr. John Denstedt travelled to Nanjing Medical University in October 2014 to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). As per the MOU, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry will provide a three month Visiting Teacher Experience at Schulich for family medicine teachers from NMU, commencing November 1, 2014.China, October 2014
The first few days were spent in Beijing as part of Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne’s Ontario Trade Mission to China. While there, Western University’s Vice-President (Research), Dr. John Capone, signed a trilateral Memorandum of Understanding between Western, Hebei University in Baoding and the Peking Union Medical College Hospital, which is rated number one in China.China, September 2014
I was invited to China by the Chinese Hypertension League to facilitate the development of a needs assessment to determine how to improve blood pressure levels in China towards Canada's world-leading levels. Drs. John Denstedt and Doug Jones visited several Brazilian universities to explore further collaboration and partnerships. Specifically, they visited the Pontifica Universidade Catolica de Minas Gerais (PUC Minas) in Belo Horizonte, PUC Minas Medical School and the University of Sao Paulo.Japan, June - July, 2014
In June and July, I did a two and a half week trip speaking at multiple institutions in Japan. I was invited by CIHR and the three Japanese societies to speak at the Canada-Japan Symposium as part of their annual meeting in the massive Kyoto Convention Centre.China, April 2014
Drs. Michael Strong, John Denstedt, Doug Jones, Jane Rylett, Michael Rieder and Qingping Feng were invited to Chengdu, Huai’an and Nanjing in the spring of 2014. Dr. Michael Strong visited the newly constructed ER & Out-patient Clinic Facility, PET-CT and new Internal Medicine Building in Huai’an and attended the opening ceremony of the Advances in Diagnosis and Treatment of Neurological Diseases Symposium. He also lectured at the Western University-Nanjing Medical University Research Symposium.Rwanda, March 2014

Michael Strong and John Denstedt were been invited to Rwanda in support of the collaborative project: “Maternal, Newborn and Child Health in Rwanda” a project of Western University, funded by the Canadian International Development Agency.
