Biography

Dr. Ana Elisa Lohmann, MD PhD, is a medical oncologist with expertise in breast and gynecological cancer. She is a clinician-researcher, focusing on the association of obesity and obesity-related biomarkers, liquid biopsy with cancer outcomes. In 2019, she joined the University of Western Ontario as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Lohmann has focused on investigating the role of obesity-associated factors and body composition with respect to cancer outcomes. Her research interests include the issue of prognostic biomarkers, for example, host factors and liquid biopsy, for predicting cancer recurrence. She has been involved in multiple studies in liquid biopsy and obesity-related markers, such as “Liquid Biopsy and Blood Markers for Predicting Late Recurrence in Patient with Hormone Receptor-Positive Breast Cancer” study, “Concordance between tissue and liquid biopsy in women newly diagnosed with breast cancer recurrence”. Concurrently, Dr. Lohmann has been working on endometrial cancer research projects, and she has built a retrospective cohort of patients diagnosed at the London Regional Cancer Center (LRCP) since 2010. In addition, a prospective cohort looking at disparities, role of obesity and liquid biopsy in ongoing.
