Short Biography:
Dr. Chris Hebbern is a Data Scientist in the Heat Division of Health Canada’s Climate Change and Innovation Bureau where he provides analysis and expertise in research on climate change and health. His background is in environmental epidemiology and he has 12 years experience with Health Canada researching temperature and air pollution health impacts. As part of the Heat Division, he conducts analysis of health evidence to identify temperature thresholds to inform the heat warning criteria used across Canada, and conducts projections of future impacts of climate change on health.

Abstract:
Climate change is increasing global temperatures, but how temperature-related mortality risk will change is not completely understood, and how future demographic changes will affect temperature-related mortality needs to be clarified. Dr. Hebbern will present results from a recent study that projects temperature-related mortality in health regions across Canada until 2099, accounting for age groups and for different scenarios of population growth.
