Short Biography:

Selam Mequanint is a Senior Consultant Team Lead in Decision Support at LHSC. Selam holds a Bachelor's degree in Statistics and Computer Sciences, a Master's degree in Management Information Systems, and a second Master's degree in Data Analytics from Western University. Previously she worked at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry for almost a decade as a Research Coordinator/Project Team Lead. Selam is responsible for leading the Data Analysts team and initiatives related to community partnership and data analytics.

Short Biography:

Scott Draper is a Decision Support Analyst with LHSC. He has a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo. He started his career with Canada Trust/TD Bank and specialized in online and other alternate banking channels. He has worked at LHSC since 2012 and was a Business Systems Analyst prior to joining Decision Support. Scott is the administrator for the LHSC REDCap instance and is also involved in assisting researchers with their data requests.

Short Biography:
Danny Kim is a Decision Support Analyst with LHSC. After completing graduate studies in Cell & Molecular Biology and Epidemiology & Biostatistics at Western, he began his career as a Medical Writer with Continuing Professional Development at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. During his time at Schulich, he worked as a Research Coordinator and Data Analyst in the Office of Distributed Education and as the Program Evaluation Lead and Data Specialist for Undergraduate Medical Education. Danny supports research and quality improvement projects in Decision Support.

Abstract:

The Decision Support (DS) department at LHSC houses and synthesizes clinical, operational, and financial data from various sources, including Cerner, to support clinical and corporate decision-making at LHSC. The department also supports researchers by providing data and subject matter expertise required for clinical research. The presentation covers the data types residing in the DS warehouse, the department's many services for researchers and clinical leaders, and how to access the DS services.
