Docs dunk the competition to win big for kidney care

Congratulations to faculty and students on a successful Dunks for Dialysis event. The charity basketball game raised more than $30,000 for the Care for Kidneys Foundation.

The gym was packed with more than 300 fans cheering on the students and faculty, coached by Dr. Mark Awuku and by David Musyj, CEO of Windsor Regional Hospital, respectively.

The faculty team came from behind to win the game. The final score was 55-45.

“The medical students took a quick and strong lead over the Doctors but with some bold, and some may say biased, referee calls the Doctors were able to pull ahead,” said Dr. Albert Kadri, medical director of the Renal Program at Windsor Regional Hospital and event organizer. “All in all, it was a great day and everyone really enjoyed themselves.”

Since 2002, Dunks for Dialysis has been raising money to support the renal program at Windsor Regional Hospital, helping pay for new equipment and online educational videos.
