Articulation Agreements

International

Western is enhancing its international presence by providing students with opportunities for exposure to globalization and international cultures. Articulation Agreements between Western University/Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry and three universities in China have been recently established. All agreements provide students from these Chinese universities with the opportunity to complete a BMSc degree at Western in two years, following the successful completion of three years of undergraduate study at their home university. All students participating in these articulation agreements must be nominated by their home university to a maximum of 5 each year.

Dalian Medical University

Dalian Medical University (DMU) and Western have entered into an agreement whereby qualified DMU students, having completed the required courses in Years 1, 2 and 3 of DMU’s Bachelor of Pharmacy or Clincal Pharmacy undergraduate program, may:

  • be accepted into Year 3 of a BMSc Honors degree at Western
  • be accepted into either the Honors Specialization in Pharmacology, the Honors Specialization in Physiology and Pharmacology, the Honors Specialization in IMS or Double Major module(s) within the BMSc Program
  • receive a Bachelor of Medical Sciences (BMSc) Honors degree from Western after the completion of Years 3 and 4 (10.0 courses).

Appendix A: List of required courses from DMU

Nanjing Medical University

Nanjing Medical University (NMU) and Western have entered into an agreement whereby qualified NMU students, having completed the required courses in Years 1, 2 and 3 of NMU’s Bachelor of Medical Science undergraduate program, may:

  • be accepted into Year 3 of a BMSc Honors degree at Western
  • be accepted into one of the following Honors Specialization modules: Biochemistry, Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Biochemistry of Infection and Immunity, Biochemistry and Pathology of Human Disease, Medical Cell Biology, Microbiology and Immunology, Microbiology and Immunology with Pathology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Physiology, or in Physiology and Pharmacology; or the Honors Specialization Interdisciplinary Medical Sciences; or Double Major modules within the BMSc Program
  • receive a Bachelor of Medical Sciences (BMSc) Honors degree from Western after the completion of Years 3 and 4 (10.0 courses).
  • may receive a conditional offer of admission to Western’s Masters of Science (MSc) following the completion of the BMSc degree.

Soochow University

Soochow University (Suda) and Western have entered into an agreement whereby qualified Suda students, having completed the required courses in Years 1, 2 and 3 of Suda's Biotechnology Program, may:

  • be accepted into Year 3 of a BMSc Honors degree at Western
  • be accepted into one of the following Honors Specialization modules: Biochemistry, Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Biochemistry of Infection and Immunity, Biochemistry and Pathology of Human Disease, Interdisciplinary Medical Sciences, Medical Cell Biology, Microbiology and Immunology, Microbiology and Immunology with Pathology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Physiology, or in Physiology and Pharmacology; or Double Major modules within the BMSc Program
  • receive a Bachelor of Medical Sciences (BMSc) Honors degree from Western after the completion of Years 3 and 4 (10.0 courses).
